FIGHTERS - URCHINS/RASCALS/SCAMPS
Pugilists- they are practicing noble, full of specific culture and rules sport, which is fascinating people kind for very long, and for sure since ancient times of Greek Olympia games.
There is something, a wild side, an atavism, which – regardless for modern standards of humanitarianism, - makes us look at blood, sweat and tears of sportsmen on fighting ring.
We are Urchins, which lets the show go on. There definitely must be something of a Rascal in a man (or woman) who decides to, for a profession, beat other people in faces.
With those pieces of art, I wanted to pay honor to the great school of polish boxing signed by Feliks “Papa” Stamm, and the culture of boxers as it is. That’s why I showed here golden age sportsmen from Poland and some international as well, and actors who played boxers in movies.
Works are done with black ink, white gouache, with quill, brush and finger work.
